History Of Fork Lift Trucks

From the middle of the 19th century to the early 20th century, specific developments had been made that led to what we know now as a forklift truck. The leader and generator of the modern forklift were manually powered hoists. In 1906 battery powered platform trucks where introduced for moving luggage in Pennsylvania. World War I saw the development of different types of material handling equipment in the United Kingdom and in the United States who began developing and using powered tractor and powered lift tractors in their factories. Continuing development and expanded use of the forklift continued through the 1920s and so on. The introduction of hydraulic power and the development of the first electric power forklifts, along with the use of standardized pallets in the late 1930s, helped to increase the popularity of forklift trucks.
